drill: Undulation
this drill will build the following elements of your skill
- target focus
- awareness of surroundings
- shooting while moving
[setup]
place a basketball on the ground in a suitable open area. the basketball will react to fire- if you are on a paved surface you will likely need a hula hoop to keep it from tucking tail and rolling off. setup 5 cones in a straight line from the basketball at spacings of 9m, 3m, 2m, 4m, and 2m respectively. fill your loader and pods with thirty rounds.
[doing the dang thang]
for your first go, practice half speed(a.k.a. walk- it sounds easier than it is, but you will have to walk at first). boots on the line. from a relaxed, semi-ready position, acquire the target and squeeze off two rounds. don’t stop, keep moving. move forward weaving throught the cones. when you get to the end, weave backwards to the beginning without running over the cones. focus on the target, do not look back or around. reload while moving, do not stop. reload 3 times. [it's only 120rds] focus on fluidity and form and accuracy, not speed. speed will come with practice. when you can perform virtually perfectly, go full speed(a.k.a. run). this drill should only be about 5 minutes.
