Pro's Drills 2 Alternated Strafe

drill:  Alternated Strafe
this drill will build the following elements of your skill

  • accuracy
  • circle strafing
  • shooting platform- shooting while moving, support arm, reloading while moving

[setup]

 place a basketball on the ground in a suitable open area. make a perimeter of cones in a twenty-five meter radius to the basketball. the basketball will react to fire- if you are on a paved surface you will likely need a hula hoop to keep it from running away in pain. fill your loader and pods with thirty rounds.

[doing the dang thang]

 for your first go, practice half speed(a.k.a. walk- it sounds easier than it is, but you will have to walk at first). boots on the line. from a relaxed, semi-ready position, acquire the target and squeeze off two rounds. strafe right a random distance(do not turn, ever, for this drill. eyes on target, move sideways), fire while moving. focus on shooting accurately and consistently, not emptying the hopper in record time . change direction and use support arm- strafe left a random distance. shoot constantly, reloading as necessary. don’t stop moving to reload. always move. use at least half of the circle. move until you reload five times or more.
 when you can perform this drill flawlessly, go full speed(a.k.a. run). use the whole circle. the speed of this drill is based on your skill.

see slide show, mouse over to pause each screen and see corresponding instruction

Change= change to/from support arm

Move= strafe

Fire= the whole time
