lost in the think TANK
Posted On 02/14/2010 09:01:46 by haybailer52

Ok, ok, so it wasnt totally finished, but how can a masterpiece be totally finished? ever noticed how there's always a flaw in the most famous master pieces??  Well, that's how i feel about my new tank.  the fact is, its just not quite perfect.....yet.  at this point, i've done a large handful of mods and upgrades. i"ve added duals for stability, a 4-wheeler front end for stability and ride comfort, a rack n pinion gear box for steering easability.  Mirrors on the doors for driver vision for backing up.  A wipper motor and blade for an out flag so my lazy butt wouldnt have to get out and put one on or strain myself holding one out the crack of the door.  Plus numorous other "lil" doo dads to add to the list.  So, unfortunately, the list is ever growing and never ending. The good part, as i keep using it i keep finding lil things that need dealt with.  next on the list, the mounts for the guns and a different style bulk hopper. this part is really gonna take some thought and enginuity. The main problem is the lack of space. I built the tank small for spacific reasons but it also puts a cramp and restriction on other areas that require larger areas of space for the poject. And all that means that i have to sit at the drawing board for hours on end trying to figure out the best economical way to do what needs to be done. This is also where extra heads come in to play with ideas on how to rig and fabricate everything. guess i'll just have to work on it lil by lil till it feels right.

thanks for the ideas nate, the problem i keep coming up with is that with the top vertical feed guns i run out of room to see around the hoppers. but that is a very good idea. i think i'm gonna mount 2 force feed hoppers remotely and run some 3/4 inch flex tube from the hoppers to the guns. this will allow me to mount the hoppers anywhere i choose and place as big of a feed to the hoppers that iwant. i'll post a picture when i get the configuration assesmbled.

my friend made a tank outta his go kart and he actually modifiend on of those corkscrew loaders that use a tube to feed the paintballs since the hopper was beneath the gun and he had the corkscrew sit in a 5 gallon bucket and so all he had to do was dump more in the bucket and he very rarely got to the point he ran outta paintballs cxause the 5 gallon bucket was such a large buffer.

he did occasionaly get blanks in the tube. but i told him to use a moddified tippman cyclone feeder that pushed the paintballs up the tube and have a small hole in the bottom of the bucket that sat over the cyclone feeder.

i appreciate the help on the links, but most of these tanks all rund a 200 round hopper for each gun which means reloading over and over agian.  my idea is to make one bulk hopper to feed the two force feed hoppers and run lines to the guns simmiar to that of what is run on a warp feed.  this allows for the hoppers to be remote located, leaveing a larger viewing area around the guns vs a smaller one with the hoppers mounted on the guns.

Long ago, I saw a post somewhere on MSEP that had many different images of paintball tanks. I'll see if I can find it and maybe it'll help generate some ideas.
