So what exactly is T.A.G. U.R. I.T. ?
The acronym stands for:
TACTICAL ASSAULT GROUP UNIFIED RESPONSE INFILTRATION TEAMS
Ok, cool name, so what exactly does it mean? Well, basically, it is a group of paintball teams all around the world comming together to create a "Super Team". As TAG grows, it will start to have many numbers of teams, at least it has the potential to do so. As of August 2007, there are 3 teams, the 2 founding teams, Sit Rep Red, Sun Spiders (the Sun Spiders have two seperate detachments, one in Colorado and the other in South Africa), and our newest team, 5150 Tactical Paintball. Basically the way it works is simple, a team joins TAG, that team is now a part of the network. Teams inside TAG have the same basic structure, all of them are tactical teams, they all have a rank and command structure, and a web presence. The teams follow set doctrine to run missions (they follow real world tactics). The teams have uniformity in all gear, uniforms, markers, radios, ect..
Now, as an example, team A is a member of TAG, they are going to D-Day, a quick glance through TAG shows that there are 3 other teams also going to D-Day. The teams link up via TAG and coordinate with eachother to make sure the side and unit they are going to be playing for will be the same. They create a much larger force through TAG.
That's one example of using it. The possibilities are limitless, of course, there will be times when all members of TAG may not be on the same side during an event, but we think this is aviodable. But if it does happen, those teams will be representing TAG as a whole (not only that, if a group is willing to play against it's members, it shows other teams and individuals that we're not out to destroy all, we're here to play and have fun!). As TAG grows, it can even be structured to become that "Super Team".
Command structure filters down from the teams into a single unit, the two overall commanders are Odin (Sit Rep Red) and Apollo (Sun Spiders), from there the command is based on seniority within TAG and only on a team level. This means that if TAG is being run as a team, the captains of each team become squad leaders and the rank structure within those teams is seperate from TAG. Basically TAG would run as a single team with each of the member teams running as squads or platoons inside TAG. This would mean that the captain of team A has no authority to command team B, that is the job of team B captain, if team A captain has seniority over B, that captain does have the authority to assign tasks to be performed by captain B, as long as it does not change the battle plan or objective.
Mostly TAG will be used to bring tactical teams to the same game on the same side and make the other side see how inadequate they are when compared to TAG. It can also be used for recruiting those individual players who are looking to join a team in thier area, we would be able to provide that person with all the information to do so. This works both ways, TAG teams can also put the word out that they are looking for new team members.
TAG membership will be restricted, this means that being a member of TAG will mean something because not all teams qualify to be members. The requirements will be published, but basically what will be required in the applying body is:
1. A team.
2. A tactical scenario team (tactical does not mean sporting bright yellow jerseys with red and blue markers).
3. The teams have to be similiar to the teams of TAG.
4. Teams must have a web presence.
The deciding votes will come from Odin, Apollo, and Salty concerning membership.
The T.A.G. U.R. I.T. website is not up yet, so if you have any questions or would like to join, let us know.
